
On April 5, Alberta Health Services confirmed 3987 new cases of COVID-19 over the last four days, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 153,194.
Four people passed away, which means 1,998 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.
312 people are currently in hospital due to COVID.
In the North Zone, there are 14,676 cases of COVID-19 and 149 people have passed away.
There are currently 1,391 active cases in our zone with 87 in Mackenzie County, 26 in the MD of Greenview, 16 in the MD of Peace, 15 in Big Lakes County, seven in Northern Sunrise County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have four or less active cases.
AHS is reporting that 140,614 people have recovered from the virus.
This means that there are currently 10,852 active cases across Alberta.
Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:
- Michels Canada, Valleyview
- Mighty Peace Chevrolet, Buick, GM
- Peace River Correctional Centre
- RCC Simonette Lodge, Valleyview
- St. Theresa General Hospital, Fort Vermilion
To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
The Government of Alberta also made masks mandatory indoors.
