
On April 7, Alberta Health Services confirmed 1,351 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 155,476.
One person passed away, which means 2,002 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.
333 people are currently in hospital due to COVID.
In the North Zone, there are 14,997 cases of COVID-19 and 149 people have passed away.
There are currently 1,522 active cases in our zone with 48 in Mackenzie County, 24 in the MD of Greenview, 13 in the MD of Peace and Big Lakes County, 10 in the MD of Fairview, eight in Northern Sunrise County, five in the MD of Smoky River, while all other jurisdictions in our area have four or less active cases.
AHS is reporting that 140,010 people have recovered from the virus.
This means that there are currently 11,464 active cases across Alberta.
Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:
- Michels Canada, Valleyview
- Peace River Correctional Centre
- RCC Simonette Lodge, Valleyview
- St. Theresa General Hospital, Fort Vermilion
To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
The Government of Alberta also made masks mandatory indoors.
