COVID-19 UPDATE: August 21

On August 21, Alberta Health Services confirmed 144 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 12,748.

Two people passed away in the last 24 hours, including the eighth death in Mackenzie County.

225 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

In the North Zone, there are 767 cases of COVID-19 and 26 people have passed away.

There are currently 110 active cases in our zone with 41 cases in Mackenzie County, seven cases in the County of Northern Lights, and six in the MD of Peace.

AHS is reporting that 11,374 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 1,144 active cases across Alberta.

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
