On February 1, Alberta Health Services confirmed 355 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 124,563.
10 people passed away, which means 1,649 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.
In the North Zone, there are 10,229 cases of COVID-19 and 114 people have passed away.
There are currently 934 active cases in our zone with 43 in Mackenzie County, 36 in the MD of Peace, 32 in Big Lakes County, 27 in the MD of Greenview, nine in the MD of Smoky River, eight in Northern Sunrise County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have two or less active cases.
AHS is reporting that 115,527 people have recovered from the virus.
This means that there are currently 7,387 active cases across Alberta.
Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:
- Peace River Correctional Centre
- Stone Brook Lodge, Grimshaw
- Sugarplum Tree Daycare, Peace River
To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
