COVID-19 UPDATE: January 15

On January 15, Alberta Health Services confirmed 785 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 115,370.

13 people passed away, which means 1,402 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

In the North Zone, there are 8,951 cases of COVID-19 and 84 people have passed away, including one person in the latest update.

There are currently 1,624 active cases in our zone with 155 in Big Lakes County, 87 in the MD of Greenview, 76 in the MD of Peace, 57 in Northern Sunrise County, 31 in Mackenzie County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have three or less active cases.

AHS is reporting that 101,779 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 12,189 active cases across Alberta.

Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:

  • Heimstaed Lodge, LaCrete
  • High Prairie Health Complex
  • Peace River Correctional Facility
  • Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, McLennan

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.

The Government of Alberta also made masks mandatory indoors
