On January 29, Alberta Health Services confirmed 543 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 123,364.

14 people passed away, which means 1,620 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

In the North Zone, there are 10,049 cases of COVID-19 and 109 people have passed away.

There are currently 957 active cases in our zone with 40 in Big Lakes County and Mackenzie County, 34 in the MD of Peace, 26 in the MD of Greenview, 11 in the MD of Smoky River, eight in Northern Sunrise County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have two or less active cases.

AHS is reporting that 113,939 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 7,805 active cases across Alberta.

Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:

  • Peace River Correctional Centre
  • Stone Brook Lodge, Grimshaw

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
