
On March 3, Alberta Health Services confirmed 402 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 134,454.
12 people passed away, which means 1,902 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.
251 people are currently in hospital due to COVID.
In the North Zone, there are 12,073 cases of COVID-19 and 139 people have passed away.
There are currently 1,039 active cases in our zone with 237 in Mackenzie County, 49 in the MD of Peace, 41 in the MD of Greenview, 20 in the County of Northern Lights, eight in Big Lakes County, seven in Northern Sunrise County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have three or less active cases.
AHS is reporting that 127,903 people have recovered from the virus.
This means that there are currently 4,649 active cases across Alberta.
Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:
- Grimshaw/Berwyn Community Health Centre
- Knowledge Tree Childcare Centre, Valleyview
- Peace River Correctional Centre
- Tolko Industries, High Level
- Valleyview Health Centre
To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
