
On May 28, 2021 Alberta Health Services confirmed 512 additional cases of COVID-19 in the province.
The total number of active cases in Alberta is continually declining and is now at 8,760.
Hospitalization rates are slowly on the downturn; there are currently 517 people in hospital with the virus and 147 are in ICU.
In the North Zone for active cases, there are 59 in Mackenzie County, 20 in the MD of Greenview, 12 in the MD of Peace while all other surrounding counties and MD’s in our region have six active cases or less.
Vaccination rates around our region:
- Falher area – 42.3%,
- Peace River area – 39.1%,
- Spirit River area – 37.3%,
- Fairview area – 35.9%,
- Manning area – 35.4%,
- Valleyview area – 34.5%,
- High Prairie area – 30.9%
- High Level area (Mackenzie County) – 12%
As of May 28, 2021 over 60% of eligible Albertans have received a COVID-19 vaccine.
With 60% of eligible Albertans vaccinated, Stage 2 easing could begin on June 10, subject to hospitalizations being below 500 and trending downwards.
The two-week waiting period begins once the 60 per cent trigger has been met to provide time for the vaccine to take effect.
