COVID-19 UPDATE: October 8

On October 8, Alberta Health Services confirmed 364 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 19,718.

Two people passed away over the last 24 hours, and 283 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

In the North Zone, there are 1,506 cases of COVID-19 and 35 people have passed away.

There are currently 97 active cases in our zone with 10 cases in Mackenzie County, while all other areas in our area have two active cases or less.

AHS is reporting that 17,163 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 2,097 active cases across Alberta.

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
