Some locally grown suds and spirits could soon be found in Peace River.
On Monday, town councillors passed Bylaw 2014, which amends Land Use Bylaw 1891 to allow for the production of Beer, Wine, Spirits and Liqueurs with the town’s boundaries.
“That provision didn’t exist in the town’s bylaw before,” said Mayor Tom Tarpey. “So now, we hopefully will see a couple of breweries start up before long.”
Tarpey says some fine craft beers distilled in the area would be great for the area.
Council first brought up the issue at their meeting on November 14 meeting. At that point, the town said that a couple of people had approached the town about operating a micro-distillery within the community.
