2026-2029 Capital Plan

The School Board has adopted the 2026-2029 Capital Plan. The priorities of the plan are:

  • Priority # 1 – New School in Grande Prairie
  • Priority # 2 – New Program at Slave Lake
  • Priority #3 – Study for a program at High Level.

The capital plan will be posted on the CSNO website in early April.


Budget 2025-2026 – Forecasts

Council received information regarding the 2025-2026 provincial budget which was tabled on February 27. It was noted that core funding has still not been increased, however, the Francophone Equivalency Grant has been increased by 25%.

The CSNO has not yet received its financial profile and the Funding Manual will not be ready until April. An analysis will be initiated with the available information in order to be ready to develop the 2025-2026 budget of the CSNO.


School calendars 2025-2026

The 2025-2026 school calendar of the three schools was presented. These respect teaching hours, however, they differ, in particular, for certain holidays and pedagogical days.

The school calendars of École Nouvelle Frontière and École des Quatre-Vents were adopted as presented. However, the Heritage School schedule will be reviewed and presented for approval at the next Board meeting.

School calendars will be posted on the schools’ websites shortly.


Bourses CSNO 2025

The Conseil awards two scholarships worth $1,000 each year to CSNO graduates: the “Academic Excellence” scholarship and the “Active and Proud” scholarship

Information and forms for the two 2025 CSNO scholarships are available on the website.


Policies

The Board approved Policies 3 (Role and Responsibilities of the School Board) and 6 (Operations of the Board), with suggested amendments. In addition, Policies 11 (Roles and Responsibilities of the Principal) and 12 (Appeal of Decisions – Students) were adopted without amendment.

NOSC Nomination for the 2025 Edwin Parr Award

The nomination of Ms. Geneviève Savard, a teacher at École Nouvelle Frontière, has been selected as the CSNO’s nominee for the prestigious ASBA Edwin Parr Award. This award highlights first-grade teachers who stand out for their excellence in teaching and their commitment to the standard of quality for teaching.

The CSNO is proud to submit a nomination for the first time in its history, especially since the Fédération des conseils scolaires francophones de l’Alberta (FCSFA) now has the opportunity to select a teacher from among the four Francophone school boards to represent Francophone education at the provincial level.

Ordination of Bishop-elect Charles Duval, CSsR.

The Council conveyed its most sincere congratulations to the Most Reverend Bishop-elect Charles Duval on his appointment as Coadjutor Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan.

Members of the Council will participate in the episcopal ordination of Charles Duval, CSr, as Coadjutor Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan on Wednesday, May 14. The ordination and mass will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grande Prairie, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Les petits bourdons childcare centre

The “Les petits bourdons” daycare opened its doors on March 3rd. The Early Years Centre offers 16 daycare spaces and 14 pre-kindergarten spaces, welcoming children aged 3 to 5 who meet the admission criteria
