Staff at the Crossroads Shelter in Fairview say that business for the food bank is picking up.

Madeleine Smith from the shelter says they’re expecting to fill 100 Christmas hampers to help out families in the area.

“It takes a little while to do all of that and fill the hampers. We get quite a few donations. Our local rotary club donates all the turkeys and hams, and the David Thompson Hall Society donates all the Christmas oranges. So we get a lot of help.”

Smith adds that they recently got a lot of donations from a successful food and toy drive.

“It included the total area in Fairview, Bluesky and Whitelaw. We received a large amount of toys and donated food. We were very lucky.”
