A fire advisory has been issued for the High Level Forest Area.
The status change is due to a lack of current and forecasted precipitation, windy conditions, and a dry grass hazard.
The wildfire danger is considered high.
Any unauthorized burning is not allowed. Campfires are permitted.
Existing fire permits will still be honoured, however new requests will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
There have been a total of 7 wildfires in the High Level Forest Area since March 1st. None of them remain active.
No fires are currently burning in Northern Alberta.
Earlier today, Alberta introduced cutting edge technology for detecting and managing wildfires.
The upgrades include Remote Piloted Aircraft Systems, Updated Camera Detection Systems, Fire Suppressant Gels, and High Volume Water Delivery Systems.
“The safety of Albertans and their communities is our top priority, so we’re moving forward on new firefighting tools and practices, like artificial intelligence and drones, to add even more firefighting tools to our tool kit.”
Devin Dreeshen, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry
