In a bid to enhance emergency response capabilities, several municipalities in the Peace region are receiving provincial grants to train firefighters.
Birch Hills County, Big Lakes County, Northern Sunrise County, and the Town of High Prairie are among the beneficiaries, receiving amounts ranging from $8,650 to $14,520.
These funds are part of a larger initiative, with over $1 million distributed to 65 Métis Settlements, First, and municipalities across Alberta.
The grants will support training in critical areas such as handling toxic materials and conducting ice water rescues, bolstering community safety and preparedness.\
