Flyers Fall Short at the Fairplex

The Fairview Flyers came up behind the eight ball last night in Northwest Junior Hockey League (NWJHL) action.

Despite their best efforts, the team fell 5-3 to the Sexsmith Vipers in front of their hometown fans at the Fairplex.

Jonah Knudslien was in net for the Flyers throughout 59 minutes of the game, where he made 25 saves in net. As well, Remee Richard, Dawson Blanchette and Jared Moffatt each put one in for the Flyers, while Bailey Tokarz and Eric Dentinger each registered an assist.

The loss puts the Flyers’ record at 9-11-and-1, good for 19 points. But it does cut their lead over the Vipers in the standings to just four points instead of six. Sexsmith remains in sixth overall at 7-15-and-1.

The Fort St. John Huskies continue to lead the standings at 17-and-3. They’re followed closely behind by the North Peace Navigators, who have 31 points with a record of 15-6-and-1.

The Flyers and the Navs both have games coming up this weekend.

Fairview remains on home ice on Friday to host the Dawson Creek Junior Canucks.

North Peace has two games at Peace River’s Baytex Energy Centre this weekend. They host the Huskies on Saturday at 8 PM, and once again on Sunday at 4:30.
