Well with John Wick Chapter 4 in theatres today I wanted to look back at Keanu Reeves  career and highlight his top 5 characters he has played in his movies are. Keanu has played everything from a young, dumb teenager to cops to comic book character and everything in between. The Canadian has carved out a massive career that has seen a resurgence over the past decade. Reeve’s is an actor that doesn’t take himself so seriously which allows for comedy to naturally just happen and he unlike numerous actors can make fun of himself.

5. Johnny Utah (Point Break)

Taking the 5th spot is Reeve’s portrayal of a former college athlete turned federal agent as he goes undercover in a surfer group to take down “The Presidents” a group of bank robbers who wear masks of presidents as they do it. Keanu is in his element as a surfer character in this classic film starring alongside Patrick Swayze and Gary Busey.

4. Shane Falco (The Replacements)

Number 16 in your program and #1 in your heart Shane Falco. Keanu plays a former college star (sound familiar) whose football career went down in shambles after a disastrous Sugar Bowl game. A pro football strike proves to give him and a rag tag of athletes a second chance at football. An underrated football movie is made by Reeve’s performance as he leads this group of layers on the mission to win 3 out 4 to get the franchise into the playoffs. Reeve’s is funny and convincing in this role.

3. Neo (The Matrix Franchise)

Well we know this role was going to be on the list and now we know where. Keanu as Neo is what helped get the franchise off the ground which would spawn 3 sequels, non as good as the first. Reeve’s puts his martial arts skills to the test in this modern classic franchise which is a take on Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave.” With a great cast that included Carrie-Ann Moss, Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving he was able to take this movie into greatness.

2. Theodore “Ted” Logan (Bill and Ted Franchise)

The role that really launched Keanu into the public consciousness as one half of Bill & Ted. As Ted he plays one half of the nitwit duo who in the future will right a song to united the universe with their struggling band “The Wild Stallions.” When Rufus a man form the future brings them a time machine to finish their history project hat if they fail Ted will be sent to a military school thus ruining the future. Keanu plays the role as good as anyone could in not one or two but three films. Even after over 20 years removed from the role he managed to tap back into it for “Face The Music.” It will be one of the few roles Reeve’s will forever be remembered for.

1. John Wick (John Wick Franchise)

Taking the top spot is one of the more recent characters Reeve’s has taken on John Wick. The movie that is coming up on it’s 4th movie being released today. This is the perfect type of role for Reeve’s as it is action packed which from The Matrix films and some others we learned Reeve’s is skilled at but it also requires minimal dialogue if any is needed in a scene. With John Wick we found the role Keanu was truly born to play and one that we hope after Chapter 4 we might see again.
