Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit arrest male for drug trafficking
Grande Prairie, Alta. – On Feb. 10, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m. Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of 99 Avenue and Resources Road after having observed a moving violation. Further investigation led officers to enter into a drug investigation. While attempting to arrest the driver he fled on foot but was apprehended after a brief foot chase.
Approximately 59 individually packaged bags of suspected Cocaine, with a total weight of 35 grams, and $2,448 in Canadian currency was seized during the investigation
Everisto Yousif (19), a resident of Edmonton, Alta. was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, and resisting arrest.
Following a judicial hearing Yousif was remanded into custody to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Feb. 22, 2023.
