The COVID-19 Vaccination efforts in Alberta are continuing to progress well.

More than half of the population over the age of 12 has received at least one shot and Health Minister Tyler Shandro tells the Trending 55 Newsroom that an increased volume of vaccines will be coming in the next few weeks.

“Of course a reminder though that after you’ve had your shot of vaccine, either first dose or second dose, it takes two weeks for that full protection. We’ll see then the benefits of those vaccines fairly soon in early June.”

People can now also see how their communities compare to each other when it comes to getting vaccinated.

Shandro says they’ve added an interactive map to the province’s website (which you can see here) showing the vaccine coverage in each area.

“We heard from a lot of folks asking us about what is the uptake in my community and how does one community compare to the other. We’ve been pushing ourselves throughout the pandemic to disclose more than any other province and any other jurisdiction during COVID. We’re pleased to see this additional feature on our COVID data website so that people can track this information as well.”
