HFCRD Board of Trustees February 2025 Meeting Highlights
(February 19th, 2025)
Board of Trustees Guiding Principles
The Board of Trustees passed and signed new Guiding Principles.
The guiding principles reflect the trustees aligned purpose of being committed to sharing Catholic value-based decision-making. They will engage in respectful dialogue with each other, support majority decisions, and remain flexible when needed, working together towards a common vision. Actions will focus on evangelization, professional development, and collaboration with stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes.
St. Andrew’s – Visit with MLA Scott Sinclair
Lesser Slave Lake MLA Scott Sinclair recently visited the grade six class at St. Andrew’s School in High Prairie. He shared stories about government, answered questions, and led a game of Ninja, Cowboy, Bear (alternative to Rock, Paper, Scissors) for prizes.
Afterwards he met with Board Chair Kelly Whalen, Superintendent Betty Turpin, and Senior Administration at St. Andrew’s to discuss the next steps in advocating for a new school. A Board of Trustees Ad Hoc Committee continues moving forward with this number one capital project.

The HFCRD Board of Trustees passed a motion to support schools financially through the Board Initiative Fund based on their milestone anniversaries.
Schools celebrating anniversaries at the 5, 10, or 15-year mark will receive $250. Those marking milestone anniversaries between 20 and 45 years will be awarded $500. Schools celebrating their 50th anniversary or beyond will receive $1,000.
Rosary School celebrates their 75th anniversary next school year.
