
The emergency department at the High Prairie Hospital is currently closed right now.
Alberta Health Services says it’s a temporary measure and is asking those who normally seek emergency care there to go to another nearby community.
There’s no word yet on what exactly lead to this.

This is a temporary measure and AHS is working to ensure local residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time.

Individuals who would normally seek emergency care at the High Prairie Health Complex are advised to instead visit an alternate Emergency Department in surrounding communities including Grande Prairie, Valleyview, and Slave Lake.

EMS is on site at the ED and will transfer patients requiring admission to alternative care facilities and EMS calls will be re-routed to surrounding facilities to ensure local residents continue to have access to emergency services.

All patients requiring immediate medical care should phone 911. To speak to a nurse and receive telephone advice and health information, families can also contact Health Link 24/7 by dialing 811.
