United Conservative Party leader Jason Kenney presented at a special Peace River and District Chamber of Commerce membership meeting Thursday afternoon at the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre. He addressed issues facing Albertans relative to the economy.
Topics included the current Trans Mountain Pipeline situation and response to BC’s threat to block the project as well as the impact of the carbon tax and the United Conservative Party’s plan to repeal it if elected.
Mr. Kenney also addressed the demographic population crunch facing rural Alberta with a plan to reform the Alberta Immigrant Nominee program; prioritizing those who will live in smaller communities including the Peace Country.
Shelly Sorensen, President of the Peace River Chamber was excited to have Mr. Kenney addressing some of the issues the chamber and town faces. She looks forward to seeing how the provincial government landscape unfolds in 2019.
Sorensen also noted that Mr. Kenney is the first provincial political party representative who will speak to chamber members in the coming months. In April, the Honourable Deputy Speaker Debbie Jabbour will present with the Alberta Party to follow in the fall.
