A 19-year-old man is facing several charges after trying to run away from the police. The Peace Regional RCMP says it was notified at around 1:40 PM on Friday of a man in possession of firearms threatening to shoot bystanders in the Cadotte Lake area.  The detachment alleges he was in possession of a stolen vehicle as well. Officers found the vehicle and the suspect attempted to flee but the area was contained and the suspect was arrested after the vehicle got stuck in the snow.

Two adults and several youth were taken into custody. Skyle Brady Laboucan of Cadotte Lake was arrested on outstanding warrants and will be in court on January 13 on the following charges, which have not been proven in court:

  • Uttering threats
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by a peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited from doing so (x2)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2)

The remaining occupants have been released without charge at this time.
