Manning RCMP investigate fatal collision on Chinchaga Forestry Road

***RCMP Press Release***

On January 27, 2022, at approximately 6:30 p.m. the Manning RCMP, Manning Fire Department and EMS responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving two service trucks on the Chinchaga Forestry Road near the 104 km marker.

Preliminary investigation has indicated two service trucks were travelling in opposite directions when they collided, head on, at the crest of a hill on a narrow portion of the roadway.

The driver of the northbound truck, a 56-year-old male from Hoyt, New Brunswick, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The name of the deceased will not be released.

The driver of the southbound truck was not physically injured.

RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstruction attended the scene and has completed an examination. Fog is believed to have been a contributing factor in this collision.

Alberta Occupational Heath and Safety have been engaged and are conducting an investigation as well.

The Manning RCMP have been in contact with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton and an autopsy will be performed at a later date.

The collision remains under investigation; however no further updates are anticipated.
