It’s becoming a familiar scene in McLennan.
The Sacred Heart Community Health Centre emergency department (ED) will be without on-site physician coverage for 96 hours starting at 7 AM on Friday.
Regular operations will resume at 7 AM on Tuesday.
Nursing staff will remain on-site to provide inpatient care, along with one local physician in the community.
When there isn’t a doctor at Sacred Heart, EMS calls will be rerouted to the High Prairie Health Complex 50 kilometres away.
Residents should call 9-1-1 if there is an emergency.
Alberta Health Services says patients seeking care at the ED in McLennan may also be made aware of services available through local pharmacies, depending on their needs.
For non-emergency health-related questions, they are asked to call Health Link at 811.
