MD of Fairview and Birch Hill County under Fire Bans

Effective April 11, 2025, the Municipal District of Fairview No. 136 has a FIRE BAN ORDER in place.

ALL OPEN FLAME FIRES MUST BE EXTINGUISHED IMMEDIATELY

NOT Allowed:

  • Back yard fire pits
  • Fires of all kinds in backcountry and random camping areas.
  • Burn barrels
  • Fireworks
  • Open flame fires
  • Fires using charcoal briquettes
  • Turkey fryers
  • Tiki torches
  • Large-scale controlled burns for agricultural purposes, including large brush piles, stubble and unharvested crops

Allowed With Extreme Caution!

 

  • Portable propane fire pits, gas or propane stoves and BBQs that are CSA or UL certified and are designated for cooking or heating, Catalytic or infrared style heaters.
  • Wood fires in an enclosed facility or device, which has a chimney with a spark arrestor.

  • OFF HIGHWAY VEHICLES FOR RECREATIONAL PURPOSES ARE ALLOWED ON CROWN LAND. This can change dependent on fire orders issued by the provincial Minister of Agriculture and Forestry. Remember to check the hot spots on your vehicle and remove debris before and after use. 

THIS FIRE BAN WILL REMAIN IN PLACE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE AND WILL BE REGULARLY REVIEWED AND DEPENDENT ON VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTING CREW AND AB WILDFIRE CREW AVAILABILITY AND WEATHER CONDITIONS.

 

The MD of Fairview No. 136, along with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, will be monitoring conditions including weather conditions and the availability of firefighting crews and resources.
