The MD of Greenview declared agricultural disaster on July 27, 2021 after hot, dry conditions all summer and little moisture in the area. Producers of cereal crops, hay and cattle are struggling from the drought conditions, and Reeve Dale Smith says “everybody’s just praying for rain.”

Reeve Smith spoke with us for the River Country Ag Show this week about what declaring an agricultural disaster means, what it can do for producers in the area and more.

Smith is also a producer in the New Fish Creek area north of Valleyview and south of the Smoky River boundary, with a cow-calf operation.

Listen to our full chat with Reeve Dale Smith below and listen to the River Country Ag Show every weekday during the noon hour.
