MLA Todd Loewen wanting more support for workers affected by COVID-19

With the coronavirus pandemic continuing, many Albertans have been affected by losing their jobs. UCP MLA for Central Peace-Notley, Todd Loewen has recognized the struggle of the constituents in his riding and has been pushing for more support programs for workers affected COVID-19.

Loewen noted the emergency support programs the provincial government put in place, had almost twice as many people that were eligible for the funds sign up than expected and the website couldn’t keep up with the influx of people.

“…We know it’s hurting Albertans, and it’s hurting the people in the peace country.”

Loewen says he is saddened by watching layoffs happen and families losing their incomes, “every decision the provincial government has made on trying to lower the curve with the coronavirus outbreak has costs and we know it’s hurting Albertans, and it’s hurting the people in the peace country.”

Loewen expressed how incredible it is to see communities come together to help those struggling during these unprecedented times, seeing many posts on social media lending a helping hand to anyone who may need it.

The offices of the MLA are still in operation but have adopted social distancing measures and less workers as advised by the provincial government.
