The Alberta Health Services Screen Test program arrives mid-October for residents in the Manning and Paddle Prairie region to get a mammography x-ray. The group most at risk for developing breast cancer is women between the ages of 50-74.
The mobile mammography unit will be in Manning from October 13-15 at the Manning Community Health Centre (600 2 Street NE) and in Paddle Prairie on October 16 at the Paddle Prairie Settlement Communiplex.
The screen test is improving access to hundreds of women in northern Alberta communities where the x-ray is not readily available. The x-ray has proven to be one of the most effective ways of detecting breast cancer and early detection can help with more treatment options as well as a better chance at survival.
Due to COVID-19, the Screen Test is taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of clients and staff.
If you are a resident of the communities and you want to book an appointment or get more information you can call 1-800-667-0604 or click here.
