An action-packed feast for the eyes!
John Wick films are known for their spectacular action scenes and this spin-off film follows that trend. We follow Eve Macarro whose father has been killed while trying to give her a better life. Away from bloodshed and the life of a killer. Despite that, she chooses to follow a path of blood and trains so that she can avenge him. While on one of her contracts, she finds men who have the same mark as her dad’s killers. While on her path of vengeance, she goes rogue from her organization and makes more enemies than she accounted for.
This movie takes place between John Wick 3 and 4 so John is out and about and not to say too much but he does show up in the film. I love how much of an icon he is in the world with his reputation preceding him. While he is not the focus Keanu Reeves does such a fantastic job with this character bringing such a presence to the screen.
As I said the action is spectacular. Not only is it well choreographed they have a lot of wonderful set pieces that help make fights memorable. During fights, they use the environment to their advantage like tossing plates at each other in a diner or using flame throwers in a dark tunnel. A man behind me was enjoying himself so much while Eve used a bandolier of grenades to explode a weapon shop. I will admit it was pretty darn cool.
I also love the cinematography. In the movie, we go to a few different locations and I love the lighting and shots in each one. I really wanted to go check out each of these places because they look so pretty…except for the fact that there are a lot of fights and violence happening there.
Overall I really loved this movie. If you are an action film fan it is worth giving a watch! If you want to see more check out the trailer below!
