What a movie. Now, this was not on my release schedule so I did watch the trailer to see what exactly this was about. It did have some names I recognized attached like Jason Sudeikis, who voices Hitpig, along with Rainn Wilson, recognizable as Dwight from the office, and even RuPaul. Just because it has some names though doesn’t make it good.
The movie is an original story that has roots in comics. We follow Hitpig as he is tasked with bringing Pickles the elephant back to her villainous owner. During his mission, he learns that maybe there is more to his work than just doing the job. It’s a simple premise that leads to a film full of jokes and silly scenarios. Which were good to see and it even went a little deeper with Hitpig learning some life lessons and having growth but it just felt like something was missing for me.
Visually the movie looks great the animation is fun and all of the characters are fairly expressive which is fun to see. They travel to a few different areas throughout the film, and each area from the dessert, to air balloons, city, and even space, has a different feel to them.
Overall I thought the movie was ok. If your looking for a light fun family film it will get the job done. I don’t want to discourage new ideas like this but I was just left wanting something more form this.
