The NDP is calling on Premier Jason Kenney to require proof of vaccination from the UCP MLA’s and have those who refuse to be vaccinated be removed from the government caucus.
NDP Deputy House Leader Thomas Dang says the government needs to show leadership that the vaccines are safe and effective to get through the pandemic.
“Even MLA’s like Dan Williams who’s up in your area who last I checked hasn’t disclosed his vaccination status is not showing his community and not showing his neighbours that vaccines are safe and effective. If you do believe that this is the way to end COVID and this is the way for us to lift the restrictions in Alberta, then you have to be willing to go out there and tell people that you are vaccinated and you think they should get vaccinated too.”
Dang was on the Trending 55 Hot Seat and says Jason Kenney should follow what other provinces like Saskatchewan and Ontario have done.
“Scott Moe and Doug Ford are both Conservative Premiers as well and I hope that Jason Kenney follows their lead. We’re seeing across the country these vaccine requirements for MLA’s coming in and leaders such as Premiers not taking lies or no from their caucus and moving forward to kick people out. I hope Jason Kenney does the same thing.”
