Second week of April, second week of new music! Who’s coming out with stuff tonight? Well, let’s take a look…
Bon Iver – SABLE fABLE
Bon Iver is releasing their long awaited fifth album tonight, after a 6 year gap between this release and their previous in 2019. The first few songs from the album, released in an EP called “Sable”, takes a noticeably more folky turn back towards the band’s roots and debut album, but frontman Justin Vernon has insinuated that the rest of the album won’t be the exact same.
OK Go – And the Adjacent Possible
OK Go is best known for their crazy music videos, including winning a Grammy in 2008 for the music video for “Here It Goes Again”. The group consists of 4 members, and this will be their 5th project. A whopping 11 years have passed since the release of their previous album in 2014, although the band has released a handful of singles in that time, including a song and video in 2020 in which the proceeds went to support healthcare workers during the pandemic.
Ken Carson – More Chaos
Ken Carson is a rapper from Atlanta, Georgia, associated with the trap genre and a close collaborator of huge artist Playboi Carti. More Chaos is his fourth studio album, following up his 2023 album A Great Chaos, which peaked at 11 on the charts. It’s also his birthday tomorrow (April 11th), so happy early birthday to him.
Röyksopp – True Electric
Röyksopp is a Norwegian electronic duo, and they’re coming out with a new project tonight. This is their 10th album that they’ve released. The duo is known for their rather rambunctious DJ sets which, I’ve heard, are rather fun to go to (I would love to experience one first hand someday… is Coachella calling my name?)
Post Malone + Nirvana – A Post Malone Tribute to Nirvana
The name is pretty self-explanatory on this one. Post Malone is releasing his 2020 Nirvana Tribute live stream as a proper album now. The livestream notably featured Travis Barker on drums, who gained popularity for his work with blink-182 but has now moved into doing production and drums for many other artists across a variety of genres.
Relatively slow output for this first weekend of Coachella, hopefully it picks up next week!
