Another Thursday, another new batch of album releases to take a look at! Here’s some of the big things coming out tonight.
The biggest drop of the night would be I AM MUSIC, the highly anticipated album by Playboi Carti. The issue is that I can’t actually say in confidence that it’s coming out tonight. Sure, Playboi Carti himself confirmed it, but this is I think the third or fourth time that he’s announced that it’s coming out that week and, well, it’s still not out. Take this announcement with a grain of salt…
Lil Nas X is releasing an EP tonight, titled Days Before Dreamboy. The name and cover of this project are a reference to Travis Scott’s EP Days Before Rodeo, which was released about 16 months before his debut studio album Rodeo. This likely means that Lil Nas X is gearing up for a new album release sometime within the next year or so. This is meant to be some sort of teaser for it, which I am very excited to sink my teeth into, his debut album Montero was one of my favourites to come out in 2021.
Cavetown is also releasing an EP tonight, titled SONGS I LIKE IN 2025. The British artist has only increased in popularity over the past few years, this will be his 4th extended play, and his 10th officially released project.
American Blues / Country singer Charley Crockett is coming out with a new album tonight. This will be his 14th studio album since his debut in 2015, and his 7th in 4 years. The album has 12 songs and is titled Lonesome Drifter.
Penelope Scott is coming out with a new album tonight, called Water Dogs. This will be her second studio album, the first being Public Void which released in 2020. Water Dogs will have 8 songs on it.
Edwyn Collins has a new album coming out tonight, titled Nation Shall Speak Unto Nation. The Alternative artist has been making music since 1976, this is just his second album since a cerebral haemorrhage which left him hospitalized for months in 2005.
A bit of a dryer week than we’re used to, but still some incredible works by some incredible artists.
