Cindy Millar has formally been appointed to the position. She succeeds Peter Thomas, who resigned from the position in July 2017. Chief Financial Officer Bob Madore had been serving as Interim CAO since then.

“I am honoured to be a part of the great team at the County,” Millar said in a news release. “I look forward to the opportunity to work council, staff, as well as residents as we fulfill our commitments to the County’s strategic plan, as well as continuing to make our municipality a great place to live, work and play.”

Millar has previously worked for the county for the past three years as Director of Legislative Services. In this capacity, she’s responsible for ensuring compliance to the Municipal Government Act, as well as councils approved bylaws, policies, and their strategic plan.

Now, as CAO, the county says she’ll lead development, implementation, and administration of all policies and programs established by the council. Millar’s main focus in her new role will be to strengthen relationships with community partners, advancing the county’s strong customer service to residents and stakeholders, as well as foster a strong organizational structure.

Millar says all of those are passions for her, and have been part of her ongoing professional and personal development for several years.

“I was born and raised in Peace River, and have lived and raised my family in Northern Sunrise County,” she said. “This is home for me.”
