With bed closures and ER shutdowns happening at hospitals across the province, the NDP is calling for real-time public reporting.
NDP leader Rachel Notley says having a real-time bed tracker would “hold the government accountable for their decisions.”
“We could then put the pressure where necessary to improve the health care that Albertans receive, especially the health care that Albertans receive in the rural parts of the province, because we know that it has been under increasing pressure over the last two years.”
Notley was on the Trending 55 Hot Seat and says the UCP’s handling of healthcare has a greater impact on rural Alberta.
“Frankly part of the reason that the struggle is greater is because health care workers are exhausted from the pandemic. This government was the last to roll out extra financial incentives to bring more people into the workplace out of the door, and they are now attacking these folks while threatening to fire tens of thousands of front line healthcare providers.”
