Both municipalities began working on the plan in late 2016, with consultation and feedback from residents being used to develop the plan, along with the services of the Mackenzie Municipal Service Agency.
Each individual bylaw in Nampa and the NSC were passed in June 2017.
According to a press release, municipalities also adjusted the county’s cost sharing framework, dramatically increasing the overall annual contribution to the village.
NSC Reeve Garrett Tomlinson calls this agreement a critical step in regional collaboration.
“Not only are we going to move forward planning together,” said Tomlinson. “But I am very proud that the County is now working to ensure the long-term viability and continued growth of rural Alberta through Nampa.”
“This agreement is another example of both municipalities working together to improve development projects within our boundaries,” echoed Nampa Mayor Perry Skrlik.
An IDP document is defined as a long-range planning tool that’ll be used to facilitate intermunicipal planning between both municipalities. It’ll also provide requirements for development with a specific area surrounding the village.
The IDP document is available on the County’s and the Village’s websites.
