A fatal shooting involving an RCMP officer in Valleyview is under investigation.
RCMP were dispatched to a report of a suicidal male with a firearm on Monday night.
They went to a residence and found a man outside with a firearm, and in an attempt to difuse the situation, an officer discharged their firearm.
Despite officers providing first aid, the man succumbed to his injuries while en-route to hospital.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is now taking over this investigation.
In addition to the ASIRT investigation, the Alberta RCMP’s internal review process is also being implemented to gather a full account of what took place during this incident.
