After over a little over a year preparing for it, the 2024 Junior B Provincials in Peace River are just under a week away.

Joe Fawcett, the chair of the host committee, says they’ve had a strong response from the community on this event.

“We’ve had ticket requests, we have a number of volunteers in place already, the overall sense is that it’s an exciting event and what we’re gonna have in town is going to be a pretty special tournament to watch. Overall I think there’s a sense of excitement out there from the community and I don’t think they will be disappointed in the product on the ice.”

Fawcett believes that a couple of factors will lead to strong ticket sales for the tournament.

“The Navs had pretty good fan support throughout their playoff run so I would suspect that it would be similar or maybe even better than that. Recently La Crete won the NWJHL title as well and obviously they have a strong fan support with their team so we would suspect that they would travel to games also.”

On the volunteers side of things, Fawcett says they’ve got a lot of positions filled but they are still looking for more to help out.
