Peace River Town Council has selected the four public members-at-large that will be added to the Economic Development Committee (EDC).

At the meeting tonight, it was unanimously passed to accept Benji Giesbrecht, Carmen Gauvreau, Brandon Dous, and Gayle Walton to fill the positions.

Giesbrecht and Gauvreau were appointed three year terms, while Dous and Walton were given two years.

It wasn’t an easy decision. Six members of the community put their name forward.
Larry Hyrniuk & Daniel Doucette were regrettably passed over, but Administration laid out reasons for their recommended selection,
“The four candidates offer a perspective of the business community from different areas of the business
sector: Restaurant, Retail, Health/Fitness, Professional Services. Larry Hryniuk has been recently appointed to the Joint Regional Assessment Review Board and is therefore engaged in an existing committee connected to the Town of Peace River. Daniel Doucette is a Director on the Chamber of Commerce Board and the Chamber executive is already represented through their appointed member; Layne Gardner.”

The EDC was created in collaboration with the Peace River & District Chamber of Commerce to assist Town of Peace River staff and Council in supporting, enhancing, and promoting business and economic activity within Peace River.

The new members join current representatives, Councillor Shelly Shannon & Layne Gardner from the Chamber.
