Police have two in custody on theft and firearms charges

Western Alberta District (WAD) Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) investigate stolen property

Falher, Alta. – On Oct. 19, 2023, members of the RCMP WAD CRU located a stolen pickup truck in the town of Falher. CRU members observed the occupants exit the vehicle and enter a local business where they were arrested without incident. A search of the stolen vehicle recovered a loaded firearm, ammunition, and other weapons.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged Clifford Carifelle (34), a resident of Grimshaw, with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
  • 6 firearm related charges;
  • 2 counts of possessing firearms while prohibited; and
  • 3 counts of failing to comply with a release order.

RCMP have also charged Danielle Buggins (32), a resident of Berwyn, with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000; and
  • 5 firearms related charges.

Carifelle and Buggins were both brought before a justice of the peace. Carifelle was remanded into custody and Buggins was released. Both are to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Falher on Nov. 2, 2023.
