At the live auction that took place at the Gala on Saturday, November 18, 2017, a total of $14,200 was raked in, dwarfing the $6,100 they made at the same event last year.
“We’re very pleased with the result,” Kathy Lambert, the Executive Director for the Women’s Shelter, told the Trending 55 Newsroom. “And the numbers aren’t even in yet for the rest of our initiatives. All in all, I’d say it was a very successful event for this year.”
Lambert says the $14-thousand alone can be stretched a long way at the shelter.
“It’ll go to future renovations, as well as possible expansion,” she said. “It’ll also continue to go to serve our clients’ needs.”
A comedy night also took place the night before for the first time at this event. According to Lambert, this event was sold out.
“We’ll definitely be having a comedy night for our event next year as well,” said Lambert. “Other than a few tweaks, we’ll largely keep the events the same next year, as it was a very successful year at our Festival of Trees. I’m very thankful for the continued support that we have in our community.”
She says that the final numbers for the rest of the events will be released as soon as they are available.
