February 10, 2021 Local News
alberta-government-jpg-3

On February 10, Premier Jason Kenney announced the province along with the federal government has allocated $465 million dollars to create the Critical Worker Benefit to provide a one-time payment for hard-working Albertans.

Over 380,000 workers will be able to access the $1,200 benefit distributed through their employers.

Workers eligible for the funding must be in the health-care, social services, education sectors and private sector jobs that deliver critical basic services to Albertans, or support food and medical supply chains.

Private sector employers must apply on behalf of their eligible employees. For private sector employees to be eligible they must not have earned more than $25 an hour, worked a minimum of 300 hours between October 12, 2020 and January 31, 2021 and be located and working in the province.

Applications will open up on February 17, 2020 and employers will have until March 19, 2021 to apply on Alberta.ca

Additional details regarding eligibility will be available on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.
