Alberta’s Associate Minister of Red Tape Reduction has been working on cutting red tape in different industries.

Tanya Fir was on the Trending 55 Hot Seat and says removing red tape can help with creating jobs around the province.

“We can free up job creators from not having to deal with duplicated, outdated, repetitious or unnecessary forms or paperwork or procedures. They can then use that time and money on to focus on growing their business and attracting capital investment. The more they can grow their business, the more people that they can hire which benefits all of Alberta’s economy.”

Next week (February 22-25) is also Red Tape Reduction Awareness Week.

Fir says they’ll be highlighting the impacts that reducing Red Tape can have on Albertans.

“Red Tape Reduction efforts can be everything from as simple and helpful as our government eliminating the need for license plate stickers, or cutting the $5 fee for people to cut down their own Christmas trees last Christmas, to much bigger projects through our ministries of Energy and Environment and Parks like working on water act approvals.”
