Province to Take Part in Health Ingredients Mission to Korea and Japan

A health ingredients mission is set to take place in Japan and South Korea this fall.

Alberta Agriculture & Forestry (AF) is inviting companies from across the province to take part in the conference from September 27 to October 7, 2017.

Among the companies being asked to participate includes the functional ingredient, natural foods, food additives, cosmeceutical, and other related services.

Katie Meredith, a trade and relations officer with AF, said in a news release that participating companies will have the chance to showcase their products.

“They can also engage with buyers through a Canadian superfood seminar and business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking program at the Canadian Embassy (in Seoul),” said Meredith. “Companies will also have the opportunity to conduct Korea-based site visits to deepen their understanding of Korea’s health ingredients market.”

After the first part of the mission in Seoul, they will then head to Fukuoka, Japan.

Meredith says companies will also get to engage in a B2B matchmaking and seminar program, and to conduct outreach visits to the region.

“Participants will then travel to Tokyo,” she said. “They’ll then get to exhibit in shared Alberta booth space at the HI Japan tradeshow, which will provide an opportunity to engage directly with key buyers in this sector.”

To be eligible for this mission, companies should be export-ready Alberta suppliers with each product that the South Korean or Japanese markets are interested in.

While there will be no fee to participate in the program, companies will be responsible for all their own travel expenses, as well as product shipping costs.

Anyone interested in participating ccan call Meredith at 780-427-6057.

The deadline to apply is on July 21, 2017.
