Recycling Pickup Disruptions in Peace River

The Town of Peace River has said that recycling pick-up has been completed across town.

In a press release, officials say that they do apologize for the delay.

The town says they understand that residents haven’t received the service they expect or pay for. So in response, they say that staff have met with the waste and recycling contractor for Green for Life Environmental (GFL) to discuss the issues that led to the recent service disruptions.

“We profusely apologize, we understand service has not been adequate and are appalled,” GFL Site Manager Kevin Marthaller said in the release. “We’re working closely with the Town of Peace River staff to rectify the issues and provide better service moving forward.”

The town says that in order to prevent disruptions due to mechanical breakdown, GFL will provide three trucks to service the Peace River area.

In regards to personnel issues and sick days, the Town of Peace River say that GFL will ensure there are a minimum of two drivers available for collection in the Peace River community.
