RCMP in Slave Lake have arrested two people following an incident on Monday while the Faust RCMP Detachment were conducting targeted patrols in Kinuso. Members of the department were looking for suspicious vehicles that may have been involved in recent criminal acts. A vehicle that they were searching for was found and the individuals refused to stop for the check resulting in a chase that forced police vehicles off the road and the suspect vehicle drove in the opposite lane on Highway 2. The male and female in the vehicle drove into a ditch where they were arrested by police.
The 28 year old male and female, from Valleyview and Blackfalds respectively, are facing charges for fleeing from the police, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and for offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The names of the man and woman were not released.
