Smoke from the British Columbia wildfires continues to seep into Alberta, causing poor air quality and reducing visibility.
Environment Canada says that individuals may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath. Children, seniors, and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.
And, if your home doesn’t happen to be air conditioned, make sure that it doesn’t get too warm when the doors and windows are shut to keep smoke out. Exposure to too much heat can also result in illness.
But the good news is that conditions are expected to gradually improve from the north later on today and into tomorrow, with a cold front set to sweep across the province from the northwest.
