A 26-year-old Peace River resident found that out the hard way on July 8, 2017, at around 8:31 PM.

That’s when a community peace officer conducted a traffic stop.

As a result, the motorist has a mandatory court appearance scheduled for December 20, 2017 at Peace River Provincial Court.

Town officials say that demerits for speeding range from two points (exceeding the posted limit by less than 15 km/h) to six points (exceeding the posted limit by more than 50 km/h).

As well, they add convictions for excessive speeding come with a $2,300 maximum fine, as well as a drivers licence suspension for up to 90 days.
