On May 25, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., the McLennan RCMP received a complaint from a resident of a suspected Stars Lottery fraud call.
McLennan RCMP investigated and found multiple calls had been received by McLennan area residents from someone alleging to be a representative of the Stars Air Ambulance Home Lottery, telling the persons that they were the winners of a significant cash prize.
The suspect required the call taker to return the call to a different number to provide personal information, which the call taker did not do and instead reported it to the police.
McLennan RCMP wants to warn residents of these types of calls. If someone receives a suspected fraudulent call do not provide any personal details and disconnect the call.
The McLennan RCMP are asking anyone who may have information about this incident, or the identity of the persons involved, to contact the McLennan RCMP at 780-324-3086, or your local police.
