Ministerial Order to transfer St. Thomas More School in Fairview
The Ministerial Order has been signed and released by the office of the Alberta Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides, officially transferring the Ward of St. Thomas More, which includes the school and other properties, from Grande Prairie Catholic School Division (GPCSD) to Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD).
The Ministerial Order goes into effect on September 1st.
“This is a great opportunity for a fresh start in Fairview”, says HFCRD Board Chair Kelly Whalen. “Taking these next steps of growth for Catholic Education in the community is an
important task that we’re honoured to be part of.”
“We are thankful that the students at St. Thomas More can continue to receive a Catholic Education through this transfer,” says GPCSD Board Chair Russ Snoble. “We extend our gratitude and appreciation to everyone who supported St. Thomas More throughout the years as a member of the Grande Prairie Catholic School Division.”
The process of transferring the school began in March, after a school council delegation from St. Thomas More made the request at an HFCRD Board of Trustees Meeting.
